Why Is My Inverter Making Noise or Showing an Error?
Your solar inverter constantly monitors itself and the grid. When it detects a condition outside its safe operating range, it will alert you through one or more of: a fault code on its display, a flashing LED, an audible alarm, and/or a notification in your monitoring app.
Some errors are minor and self-resolving. Others require action. This guide covers the most common codes for the three inverter brands used in Sunollo systems — Sungrow, Huawei, and SolarEdge.
General Rules: How to Respond to Any Inverter Error
- Note the exact error code or message — write it down or take a photo of the inverter display.
- Note the time and weather conditions — errors during rain or grid events have different causes than errors on a clear day.
- Check your monitoring app — the app often provides more detailed alarm descriptions than the inverter display.
- Try a soft reset once — if safe to do so, turn the AC isolator off, wait 5 minutes, then turn it back on. If the error clears and does not return within a week, it was likely a transient event.
- Do not reset repeatedly — if the same error returns within 24 hours, contact Sunollo. Persistent errors indicate a real problem that resetting will not fix.
